JAMIE McKENZIE was just 25 when he was thrust into the dugout at Elgin.
But he landed a manager of the month award just a few weeks later.
While he’d return to focus on playing, it was enough to give him the bug for being a boss and so it wasn’t long before he was getting involved in coaching again.
He quickly made his mark.
After winning the Central Division Two title during four seasons at Forth, he lifted the West Region League One title in his first year at Gartcairn.
Following a shock exit from The Cairn he took over at Lanark United last year and is now building his squad for the new season.
Jamie joins us this week and tells us about his ambitions for the Yowes despite a summer of early blows.
We hear why he thinks he has unfinished business at Gartcairn and the influence of John McVeigh, who he played under at four different clubs.
Plus Jamie reveals why it’s his fault he didn’t play at a higher level.
There’s also a recap of all the managers who have been on the move this week in Roache’s Roundup.
It’s all here as we go Down The Divisions.
